Description

Organizations perform at their best when they are informed by diversity of experience, thought, and practice. Yet achieving such diversity is only possible when systems, processes, and cultures are inclusive. Women at every level of an organization can be strong leaders—bringing essential skills like team leadership, strategic thinking, and organizational knowledge to their roles. To flourish as a leader, women in corrections need not only the skills to lead, but a belief that their talents are appreciated, authentic and their voice can be heard and followed. NIC has two distinct, four-day, evidence-based training programs that acknowledges the unique challenges faced by women in the correctional workplace, and is designed to validate the manner that women lead and think. There are several core competencies addressed in both programs that are tailored to the supervisory and responsibility level of the target audiences. For example, team building is an important function that involves all supervisors, but their role on the team, how teams are structured and managed will be different for a Lieutenant versus a Warden.
