A. PROGRAM DESCRIPTION U.S. Embassy Seoul is pleased to announce the availability of funding through its Public Diplomacy Small Grants Program. This Notice of Funding Opportunity outlines our funding priorities and provides information on the application submission process. Program Goals: U.S. Embassy Seoul seeks proposals for programs that aim to strengthen ties between the United States and the Republic of Korea (ROK) by promoting mutual economic prosperity and further expanding the breadth of our bilateral alliance. Successful proposals should align with the economic objectives outlined in the 2023 Biden-Yoon Joint Statement. Program Topics: U.S Embassy Seoul will prioritize proposals targeting the below themes. For more information on each topic, please refer to the 2023 Biden-Yoon Joint Statement (KOR/ENG) and Fact Sheet (KOR/ENG). · Countering Economic Coercion · Supply Chain Security and Diversification (particularly semiconductors and critical minerals) · Transition to Clean Energy · Aligning U.S. and ROK Indo-Pacific Strategies · AI and Open RAN Network Infrastructure · Space Cooperation Program Activities: Priority will be given to proposals that incorporate one or more of the following activities: · Building network of experts on the chosen topic in ROK and the United States · Organizing academic and professional lectures, seminars and speaker programs · Facilitating professional and academic exchanges and programs · Promoting youth leadership development exchanges and programs · Conducting capacity building programs for grassroots civil society groups Program activities should primarily take place in Korea. Compelling justification for activities held in the United States or third countries will be considered based on relevance to the proposed program’s goals. Proposals may include related costs of speakers and experts to support broader activities. All program proposals must incorporate an American element, establishing a connection with American experts, organizations, or institutions that contribute to an increased understanding of U.S. policy and perspectives. Target Audiences: Target audiences may include, but are not limited to: · Subject matter experts in academia and research · Leaders in related industries and businesses · Representatives of civil society and non-profit organizations · Youth members of civil society or other independent activist groups · Social media influencers and journalists Target audience and participant selection must align with the United States government's commitment to diversity, inclusion, equity, and accessibility.
