The OVW Grants to Tribal Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Coalitions Program (Tribal Coalitions Program (CFDA 16.557) is authorized by 34 U.S.C. § 10441(d) and 12511(d). This grant program supports the development and operation of nonprofit, nongovernmental tribal domestic violence and sexual assault coalitions, with each recognized coalition receiving an equal amount of base funding and sexual assault and dual coalitions receiving an additional amount for sexual assault-focused activities. What's New About this OVW Program The VAWA Technical Amendments Act of 2022 amended the definition of "tribal coalition" (34 U.S.C. § 12291(a)(42)) and the authorizing language for the Tribal Coalitions Program (34 U.S.C. § 10441(d)) to include certain organizations addressing domestic violence and sexual assault against Native Hawaiian women through services to Native Hawaiian communities. See Pub. L. No. 117-315, 136 Stat. 4404. These changes were effective on December 28, 2022, and therefore apply to FY 2023 Tribal Coalitions funding.
