Disclaimer & Responsible Use

PlainGrants is a free informational resource that makes the public SAM.gov Assistance Listings and Grants.gov funding opportunities easier to read. It is not legal, financial, or grant-writing advice, and it is not an official application channel. Use it as a starting point for your own research, not as the final word on eligibility, deadlines, or award amounts.

Informational only, not professional advice

Nothing on PlainGrants constitutes legal, financial, or grant-consulting advice, and using the site does not create any professional relationship. Federal grant eligibility, application requirements, and deadlines are set by each awarding agency and can change between funding cycles. For guidance on a specific application, consult the awarding agency's program officer or a qualified grants professional. To apply, use the official Grants.gov portal.

What a listed figure is, and is not

The funding ranges and award ceilings shown on PlainGrants are the figures published in the SAM.gov Assistance Listings and Grants.gov opportunities, not a promise of what you will receive. A program's funding range is the envelope across all awards it may issue, and an opportunity's award ceiling is the maximum a single applicant could receive, not the typical award. The amount actually awarded depends on appropriations, the number of applicants, scoring, and any cost-share or matching requirement. Always confirm exact figures, eligibility, and deadlines in the program's current Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) before you rely on them.

Data freshness and accuracy

Programs and opportunities change continuously: listings are updated between cycles, opportunities open and close on their own schedules, and award data can lag the actual obligation. A figure on a page reflects the most recent official export we have loaded and may lag a very recent change. We work to keep the data accurate and aligned with the source, but we cannot guarantee it is complete, current, or free of upstream limitations. If you spot a figure that looks wrong, please report it through our corrections process.

Before you apply

Treat PlainGrants as one input among several. Before you rely on what you read here, we recommend you also:

  • Confirm the current eligibility, deadline, and award details in the program's NOFO on the official Grants.gov.
  • Verify the program listing on the official SAM.gov Assistance Listings.
  • Register your organization in SAM.gov and obtain a Unique Entity ID well before any deadline.
  • Contact the awarding agency's program officer with eligibility questions specific to your project.
