The U.S. Embassy N’Djamena Public Diplomacy Section (PDS) of the Bureau of African Affairs, U.S. Department of State, announces an open competition for organizations to submit a statement of interest (SOI) for funding to carry out a program that aligns with our strategic themes and priorities. Please carefully follow all instructions as outlined below. The submission of the SOI is the first step in a two-step process. In Round One, applicants are strongly encouraged to fill out and submit the linked statement of interest form designed to clearly communicate program idea and objectives. This is not a full proposal. The purpose of the SOI process is to allow applicants to submit program ideas for evaluation prior to the development of a full application. Upon a merit review of eligible SOIs, selected applicants will be invited to expand on their program ideas by submitting a full proposal package. These full proposals will go through a second merit review before final funding decisions are made. Program Objectives: PDS N’Djamena invites proposals for programs that strengthen ties between the U.S. and Chad through cultural, information and exchange programming that highlights shared values and promotes bilateral cooperation. All programs must include an American cultural element, or connection with American expert/s or alumni of U.S. government exchange programs, organization/s, or institution/s in a specific field that will promote increased understanding of U.S. policy and perspectives. PDS N’Djamena invites statements of interest (SOIs) for programs that support U.S. Embassy N’Djamena’s priority program areas listed below. Promotion of prosperity for all Chadians, including women and other marginalized groups Activities, training, and workshops for women’s and girls’ education and empowerment Entrepreneurship programs for underrepresented audiences including women, minorities, disabled persons, and residents of small cities and rural areas. Programs supporting the rise of women and other marginalized groups to senior leadership positions in government, business management, civil society, academia, and other sectors. Anti-corruption educational programs and initiatives that contribute to government accountability, business transparency, and improving Chad’s investment climate. Training and mentoring programs for women entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs from other marginalized populations (e.g., disabled persons, rural communities, etc.) Activities or workshops to promote English language and strengthen the capacities of English language teachers Promotion of democratic institutions and processes, accountable governance, and respect for human rights. Protection of human rights, especially those of vulnerable populations such as women, refugees, displaced persons, and the disabled. Programs for teachers and/or students developing engaging activities and workshops that combat violence and promote tolerance. Programs that promote the empowerment and education of women and girls and combat Female Genital Mutilation, Gender-Based Violence and any other form of violence against women and girls Programs to enhance religious freedom, interfaith dialogue, religious tolerance and peaceful coexistence Programs to increase citizens’ understanding of and participation in the electoral and governance processes. Workshops, seminars, and trainings for journalists in investigative journalism, covering elections, reporting human rights abuse, and countering disinformation and fake news Promotion of media literacy and responsible internet use: Educational or community-based programs to promote media literacy and fact-checking Campaigns and programs promoting responsible social media use and awareness of disinformation, propaganda, and bias
